Walking Into the Fog

The other day, I took a walk through the fog. Not just any fog—the thick, all-consuming kind where you can barely see a few steps ahead.

I could have turned back. Waited for it to clear. Found a different route where everything felt more certain.

But instead, I kept going.

And as I walked, I realised: this is exactly what writing (and life) feels like.

When You Can’t See the Way Forward

How many times have you sat down to write and thought:

Where is this even going?
Is this working?
What if I spend hours on this, and it leads nowhere?

Or maybe this uncertainty isn’t just about writing. Maybe you’re at a crossroads in your career, your creativity, your life—unsure of the next move, wishing someone would just hand you a map.

Here’s the thing: you don’t need to see the whole path to take the next step.

Trusting the Process (Even When It Feels Impossible)

Writing, like life, unfolds step by step.

It’s not about having the perfect plan. It’s not about waiting until you’re 100% sure of where things are headed. It’s about taking the step that’s right in front of you.

Because clarity doesn’t come from standing still. It comes from movement.

The words don’t flow before you begin. They come because you begin.

The path doesn’t reveal itself before you take the first step. It reveals itself as you walk.

So, What If You Walked Into the Fog?

What if, instead of pausing, second-guessing, or waiting for certainty, you took one small step?

What if you trusted that your future self will know what to do when the time comes—even if today, you don’t?

That’s exactly what I explore in this week’s podcast episode. I recorded it while walking through the fog—literally and figuratively—and it’s all about:

✨ The power of moving forward before the path is fully revealed
✨ Why creativity often requires stepping into the unknown
✨ How to keep writing even when you’re unsure where it’s going

If you’re feeling a little lost in your writing—or your life—this episode is for you.

And next week? I’m sharing a powerful practice that has helped me navigate uncertainty and unlock creativity in ways I never expected. I’ll be revealing all the details soon—stay tuned!

Tell me: what’s one way you’ve learned to move forward, even when you weren’t sure where things were headed? Hit reply or drop a comment—I’d love to hear.

With trust,
Nicole
